Indictments filed over Molotov cocktail attack

Wednesday, June 12, 2019, 10:02 Two indictments have been filed against terrorists who threw Molotov cocktails at an Israeli car in the Shomron, wounding two Jews. The terrorists are accused of an attempt to intentionally cause death, an attempt to throw an explosive, and making an incendiary device without a permit.
The attack occurred approximately three months ago, when the two defendants and additional youth planned to throw Molotov cocktails at Israeli cars in the Shomron, near Jewish communities. They bought flammable material well in advance and brought glass bottles for the purpose of making Molotov cocktails. The group had already situated themselves at the side of the road when they noticed security forces carrying out checks nearby. The defendants and their friends discarded the bottles and fled the scene.
The following day the two defendants decided to try again to throw Molotov cocktails at Israeli cars, this time without their friends. The two drove to the gas station in Beit Furik, bought flammable material and with the glass bottles and a piece of cloth made two Molotov cocktails.
After making the Molotov cocktails the two defendants came close to a road on which Israeli cars travel, and situated themselves on a hill near the road. A short time later an Israeli car with four passengers drove towards them. The two defendants threw the Molotov cocktails at the car, breaking the rear and left rear passenger windows. The Molotov cocktails landed on the passenger seat.
The car caught fire and as a result one of the passengers suffered burns to his neck. Immediately after they threw the Molotov cocktails and heard the scream of the passengers, the two defendants fled the scene to their town. When security forces arrived two of the passengers were evacuated to hospital for medical treatment.
As stated above, indictments have been filed against the two defendants for an attempt to intentionally cause death, an attempt to throw an explosive, and manufacturing an incendiary device without a permit. Additionally, indictments have been filed against the adult defendant for previous crimes of preparing and throwing Molotov cocktails.
Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, who is representing the victims of the crime, stated that, “We are pleased that the indictments have been filed for the attempt to cause death. We will continue to follow this case and will demand that the terrorists sit in prison for many years.”
