Hevron area and Jerusalem residents detained

Tuesday, November 1, 2011, 11:41 In the early morning hours Yassam (Special Forces) police and detectives raided the homes of a Jerusalem resident and a Hevron area resident. The two were detained, apparently on suspicion of involvement with one of the recent “price tag” incidents.
The police, who had a search warrant for computers, conducted a brutal search of the two homes. Family members of one of the detainees said that the policemen scattered all of the objects and clothes in the house in search of the computers. According to them, one of the policemen informed them that, “Now the house belongs to the police and we will do whatever we want.”
Honenu notes that as of now investigators from the National Unit of Serious and International Crime Investigations have refused to allow the detainees to speak with Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar, despite their repeated requests.
The two detainees were taken to the National Unit of Serious and International Crime Investigations offices in Lod and later in the day will be brought to the Petah Tikva Magistrate Court for a deliberation, where they will be represented by Keidar.
Today the police will also request a remand extension on the two suspects in the Tuba-Zangria mosque arson case. Yesterday an additional youth was detained during a violent raid on Yeshivat Od Yosef Chai in Yitzhar. Yassam policemen broke into the study hall and sprayed pepper gas in all directions, injuring several rabbis and students.
We reiterate that two other detainees who were suspected of involvement with the Tuba-Zangria mosque arson have already been released from remand, after no evidence linking them to the act was found.
Sources close to the detainees reported that, “The police and the GSS are going wild and ‘shooting in all directions’. We hope and estimate that as happened with the previous detentions recently, the police will be forced to admit their mistakes.”
