11 demonstrators detained in wave of protests after youths kidnapped

Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 13:10 A wave of demonstrations followed the kidnapping of three youths on the night of Thursday, June 12 at a hitch-hiking stop in the Etzion Bloc. Honenu has handled the cases of 11 detainees in several incidents of protest.
On Monday, June 16 at a protest at the Etzion Bloc Junction five protesters, among them a 12 year old boy, were detained. Honenu attorney Rechavia Piltz arrived at the police station to assist the detainees, four of whom were released overnight at the station. The remaining detainee, a 16 year old youth from Alon Shevut will be brought to a deliberation at the Jerusalem Magistrate Court on Tuesday, June 17. He is accused of kicking an Arab’s car.
Also on Monday night three youths from Beitar Elite were detained on suspicion of throwing rocks at Arabs near the city. Two of them were released at the police station and the third will be brought to a deliberation at the Jerusalem Magistrate Court on Tuesday, June 17.
Attorney Itamar Ben-Gvir is representing the two remaining detainees on behalf of Honenu.
On the night of Saturday, June 14 (after Shabbat) two youths from Beitar Elite were detained on suspicion of throwing rocks at Arab cars during a protest at the entrance to the city. They were released in court despite a request by the police to extend their remand.
Also on Saturday night, after Shabbat, a youth from Alon Shevut was detained on suspicion of possessing a knife at the Etzion Bloc Junction during a protest. He was released at the police station.

Update: Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 17:19 The fifth youth detained at the Eztion Bloc Junction on June 16 has been released after a court deliberation.
