Thursday, January 11, 2024, 18:10 Today (Thursday), a hearing took place at the Supreme Court on the appeal that Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar filed on behalf of right-wing activist Elisha Yered against the administrative order served to him by the GOC of the Central Command Major-General Yehuda Fuchs approximately three months ago. The order bans Yered from entering Yehuda and Shomron for six months. Yered appealed the order with the military court who reduced the duration of the order by half and therefore it was supposed to expire at the end of 2023. After the appeal was accepted, Maj.-Gen. Fuchs appealed the ruling to the Jerusalem District Court, which accepted it and reinstated the original order.
At the Supreme Court hearing, it was revealed that the district court judge examined confidential material that was not presented at the military court hearing, which is illegal. Thus the judge approved the order after examining investigative material that was not presented to Yered’s attorney. The Supreme Court Justices leveled sharp criticism at the judge and suggested to the representatives of the State Attorney’s office and the GSS that they should reach an agreement with regard to the administrative order. They refused. A ruling is expected to be announced soon.
After the hearing, Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar stated, “During the hearing, fundamental flaws and defective conduct of the GSS and the State Attorney’s office at the Jerusalem District Court hearing were revealed. The justices as a whole expressed their clear opinion that the conduct was improper. We hope that the ruling will be significant and unequivocally order the acceptance of the military court’s ruling and prevent the violation of Elisha’s rights. We hope that the order will be canceled as soon as possible.”
