Thursday, May 9, 2024, 14:36 Today (Thursday), demonstrators protesting the passage of trucks transporting humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip blocked the road near Mitzpeh Ramon for hours while singing “Am Yisrael Chai! (The Jewish people lives!)”. Four demonstrators were detained. Security forces detained dozens of other demonstrators and kept them on buses at the site for several hours
The security forces used force on the protesters when detaining them, brutally lifting the demonstrators and removing them from the site. In a video clip, one of them is seen beaten and bruised, and his eyeglasses broken. The parents of Yinon Yitzhak, Hy”d, who was killed in battle in the Gaza Strip during the Iron Swords War, were among those present at the site.
Honenu Attorney Nati Rom is on his way to represent the detainees. “It is sad that instead of concentrating only on victory, security forces are guarding trucks transporting aid to the enemy at a time of war. This is unthinkable, and Israeli citizens are outraged. This is perhaps the most justified protest in the history of the State of Israel. Demonstrators are blocking trucks transporting aid to a cruel enemy holding our brothers and sisters hostage and abusing them, in a call to stop the passage of aid until they are all released. The protesters are not burning torches or rioting. They are only requesting what should be obvious.”
