Tuesday, August 18, 2026, 13:36 Honenu Attorney Eladi Weisel filed a complaint with the Police Investigation Unit (PIU) against Border Police officers for using severe and excessive force during the dismantling of Givat Tel Talpiot. The incident occurred after residents passively protested the confiscation of the outpost’s security vehicle.
According to the complaint and supporting video evidence, officers struck a minor on the head with a rifle barrel, threw him from a vehicle, fired gas grenades directly at a protester, kicked a person in the groin, and used pepper spray. A credit card taken from equipment removed from the site was later used at a supermarket in a Palestinian Authority-controlled village. Honenu is demanding an investigation into both the violence and the alleged theft and misuse of the card (including breach of trust).
Attorney Weisel also cited a previous incident at the same outpost in June in which a resident was injured, arguing that lessons were not learned. Honenu is calling for a full investigation, including questioning of officers and commanders under caution, review of operational orders, body-camera footage, and the training of the officer who used gas. Attorney Weisel described the officers’ actions as “criminal thuggery” and claimed that the repeated pattern of violence shows that residents of Yehuda and Shomron can be harmed with impunity.
