Thursday, July 12, 2018, 15:47 On Thursday, July 12, border police and Civil Administration forces destroyed a tent that had been used for approximately two months
by residents guarding vineyards in the Shilo Bloc area against frequent agricultural terror. The border policemen were brutal and used tear gas. One of the residents was injured and required medical treatment. Another resident was detained.
Honenu Attorney Nati Rom, who lives in the area, arrived at the scene to represent the detainee and also went to the police station to assist the detainee. Rom: “Instead of the law enforcement authorities and the IDF encouraging defense from agricultural terror, the agriculturalists find themselves fighting on two fronts: defending their property by themselves and also being hassled by the security forces and the Civil Administration.
“Surrounding us are thousands of illegal [Arab] houses that are not dealt with, the Civil Administration sits idle and informs us that they won’t carry out the decision by the High Court of Justice to clear out the illegal village of Umm al-Hiran, and then they are quick to destroy a tent used for guarding Jewish agricultural land in the Shilo Bloc. We hope that the new brigade commander will do everything within his abilities to stop this persecution and harassment,” stated Rom.
