Letter to police from Honenu Atty. Bleicher

Friday, July 3, 2020, 8:23 Near the Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem, a group of four Arabs assaulted a group of ultra-orthodox Jewish men who had come to the aid of a group of young ultra-orthodox Jewish women who had been harassed by the assailants. Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, who is representing the victims, sent a letter to the Merchav David (Old City) Police Commander in Jerusalem, demanding that the assailants be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
In his letter Bleicher mentioned that the assault occurred the previous week, after the four suspects “harassed ultra-orthodox women near City Hall,” and Zohar, one of the assaulted men, and his friends asked them to stop. ‎The suspects cursed the men, who ignored them and continued on their way to the Western Wall. As they neared the Jaffa Gate, “The four suspects suddenly ran amok towards my clients, beat them, kicked them and punched them many times. One of my clients was knocked to the ground as the suspects viciously beat him.”
After the attack, the suspects fled in the direction of the New Gate and the victims turned to policemen, who were on the scene, for assistance. The police apprehended the suspects and the victims filed a complaint against them for assault.
Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher: “This was an aggravated assault motivated by antisemitism. I demand that the suspects be brought to trial quickly and prosecuted to the full extent of the law, before they carry out additional crimes and endanger the security of citizens.”
