Wednesday, October 26, 2022, 19:39 An Arab youth attacked a Jewish man when he tried to defend a Jewish youth being harassed by the Arab youth on the light rail in Jerusalem on Tuesday, October 25. The Jewish man was riding the light rail in Jerusalem when at one of the stations, an Arab youth boarded, sat next to a Jewish youth wearing Hareidi clothing, and put his hand on him. The man asked the Arab youth to remove his hand from the Jewish youth, saying that he was making the youth feel uncomfortable. The Arab refused and tried to silence the man.
The Jewish man tried to help the Jewish youth and took hold of the Arab’s hand to remove it from the youth. The Arab then jumped up and beat the man, who required medical treatment. The Arab stopped only when light rail security guards arrived and grabbed him. The attacked man filed a complaint with the police.
Honenu Attorney Ophir Steiner, who is representing the attacked youth, wrote a letter to the Israel Police stating, “This was a racially motivated violent attack. Therefore, you must act immediately to detain the attacker. Then, he must be penalized to the full extent of the law.”
