Saturday, August 16, 2025, 22:34 On Friday (August 15), a mob of Arabs from the town of Silwad and other towns in the area threw rocks at a group of Jewish hikers near Ofra in the Binyamin region. An IDF reservist who was at the scene was forced to fire a warning shot to repel the mob. One of the hikers required medical treatment for a leg injury.
The Arabs complained to the Israel Police and the IDF, who interrogated the reservist. After realizing that the hikers had been attacked and that their lives were endangered, the police quickly released the reservist.
Honenu is assisting the reservist, and calling on the IDF to arrest the attackers: “An Arab mob attacked a group of hikers only because they were Jews. Unfortunately, one of the hikers was injured. Honenu is representing him as a victim of terror. The quick-wittedness of the reservist who was at the scene prevented a much more serious outcome. We thank the Yehuda and Shomron Police and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir for implementing a policy that supports Jews who are forced to defend themselves from Arab terrorists. We call on the IDF and Major-General Avi Bluth to arrest the attackers. It is intolerable that terrorists are not punished for causing injury and attempting murder. They must be deterred from future attacks. The only way to prevent a repeat of the October 7 attack in Yehuda and Shomron is a zero-tolerance policy toward Arab terror, which we expect all of the security forces to follow.”
