Wednesday, September 3, 2025, 11:48 The Petah Tikva Magistrates Court awarded right-wing activist Elisha Yered NIS 25,000 in a defamation suit against journalist Ben Caspit. In 2022, Yered was appointed spokesperson for Knesset Member Limor Son Har-Melech. At that time, Caspit posted three tweets defaming Yered on his Twitter account. Caspit claimed that Yered was being held under administrative detention by the GSS, and therefore was not fit to serve in a public position. In response, Honenu Attorney Menashe Yado filed a defamation suit against Caspit on behalf of Yered.

Elisha Yered reacted to the ruling: “The days of left-wingers going on reckless defamation campaigns against Yehuda and Shomron communities are over. Whoever defames will pay the price for it. Ben Caspit tried to throw mud and lies to slander hilltop communities. Now, thanks to him, another hilltop community can be built in Yehuda and Shomron. I invite everyone on the left who would also like to contribute to building new communities, to follow in the path of Caspit. Let them see the cost of waging a hostile and mendacious campaign against those who settle the land of Israel.”

Attorney Yado added: “The court rejected Caspit’s ‘I spoke the truth’ claim, because he did not speak the truth. Additionally, the court rejected the claim that he had posted the tweets in good faith, because he did not correct them when they turned out to be false. The court’s ruling indicates that defaming Yered was more important to him than expressing the truth. For that, he will pay.”
