Wednesday, July 29, 2026, 14:02 Bereaved father Yehoshua Sokol, whose son Yisrael Sokol, Hy”d, fell in Gaza, has joined the call for the release of Tal Dardik. Dardik has been on a hunger strike since his detention under an administrative order signed by Major-General Avi Bluth.
Sokol noted that his son Yisrael had often spoken out against the use of administrative detention orders against residents of Yehuda and Shomron: “My son spoke a great deal against administrative detentions and was outraged by this practice. There is no place for such a thing in a democratic country. I say in my son’s name that I have no doubt he would have joined this call. Everyone concerned must act for the release of Tal Dardik.”
Lehi fighter Ezra Yachin also expressed support for Tal Dardik: “I cannot understand them. How can they imprison Jews under administrative detention? This defies all logic. We have a cruel, wicked enemy like no other—Amalek, who attacks from the rear and murders, sparing neither infants, little girls, nor even animals. And they still do not understand this? For what did they imprison him? This is insane. I have already approached the security establishment to demand his release—enough with these orders. All our resources must be directed at our enemies. This is not only an enemy of the people of Israel; this is an enemy of all humanity and of the Holy One, Blessed Be He. I plead with the authorities: release Tal, do not persecute Jews. He committed no crime and did not sin. If he sinned, bring proof and show what wrong he did.”
Following an order from Defense Minister Yisrael Katz not to extend the detention order against Dardik, Central Command Major-General Avi Bluth and the Jerusalem District Attorney’s Office appealed to the Jerusalem District Court against the Yehuda and Shomron Appeals Committee, demanding to keep the administrative order in force.
Honenu strongly criticized the appeal: “Contrary to the publicly stated position of Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, Central Command Major-General Avi Bluth and the Attorney General’s office filed an appeal. Major-General Bluth has chosen to fight the elected echelon. Now, not only are rights being trampled, but Israeli democracy and the proper governmental order are being undermined. We call on Minister Katz to exercise his authority and not allow bureaucrats to run the country.”
