Thursday, July 13, 2023, 16:53 On Thursday, July 13, the Military Court in Salem convicted of murder the terrorist who drove the car of the terrorist squad that murdered Rabbi Raziel Shevah, Hy”d, near Havat Gilad in January 2018. The terrorist was also convicted of several counts of attempted murder, including an attempted shooting of a Jew near Havat Gilad that failed because the weapon malfunctioned.
Rabbi Shevah’s father, Moshe, spoke after the conviction, “The cursed terrorist’s conviction today, five and a half years after the murder of our son, does not provide us with closure. This week, we will read in Parshat Matot-Masei, ‘You shall not pollute the land wherein you are; for blood, it pollutes the land; and no atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of he who shed it.’ [Numbers 35:33] We call on the military court to impose the death penalty on the despicable terrorist. The penalty is appropriate and will deter any other contemptible murderer who would attempt to take the life of a man in general and of a Jewish man in particular.”
Rabbi Shevah’s mother, Ilana, added, “No penalty will bring back my eldest son, dear Raziel. However, I am proud of Honenu, the judicial system, and Am Yisrael, who brought the vile terrorist to justice. I believe that G-d will avenge the blood of our dear son Raziel, and I pray that He will console and heal the entire family.”
Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, who represented the Raziel family, also spoke after the conviction, “The terrorist was part of a murderous squad that carried out many attacks and attempted attacks. They evaded the security forces for a long time after the murder of Rabbi Shevah, Hy”d. We thank the Military Advocate General who fought hard in this case to obtain the conviction. The terrorist squad murdered one of the finest sons of the Nation of Israel. The terrorist does not deserve to live among the general population. The military court would do well to hand down the death penalty as specified in the Yehuda and Shomron code of law.”
