GSS detainees – Update

Sunday, January 5, 2020, 9:15 On the morning of Sunday, January 5, Honenu, via Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar, filed an appeal with the Supreme Court of Israel against the decision by the Central District Court in Lod, requesting that it order the GSS to allow two recent detainees to meet with an attorney. This is the fourth day that one of the detainees has not met with an attorney, and his status is not known. Honenu has demanded that the detainees be brought to a deliberation on Sunday so that the Supreme Court can evaluate their situation.
Keidar censured the use of the order prohibiting the detainees from meeting with an attorney and stated that the alleged violations do not warrant preventing a meeting.
A deliberation is expected to be held at the Petah Tikva Magistrates Court for another detainee in the case, a minor, who was released to house arrest but whose remand was extended until today (Sunday) by the Central District Court in Lod following a request by the police. Honenu Attorneys will demand his release. See here and here for more details.
