Thursday, March 27, 2025, 8:10 Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher filed an NIS 165,000 defamation suit with the Jerusalem Magistrates Court against an activist from the organization “Looking the Occupation in the Eye” on behalf of families from Havat Shorashim in the Har Hevron region. The activist posted photographs of children from the community on his Instagram and X (Twitter) alongside slanderous statements about them and their families. He also claimed that the children came from troubled homes and acted violently toward Arabs.

In one post on his Instagram account, the activist wrote, “In the video clip, one sees very small children being indoctrinated by radical right-wingers on the outpost Havat Shimon in the West Bank. Orphaned children from troubled families are sent for re-education on illegal settlements where they participate in violent acts on Palestinians.”

Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher: “Apparently, in the eyes of anti-settlement activists, Jewish residents of Yehuda and Shomron have no human rights, and they may be defamed, including by slandering young children. The activists are walking on a dangerous, slippery slope. We expect that as a result of this suit, they will stop violating the law. We also expect the slandered Havat Shorashim residents to be awarded compensation.”
