Thursday, March 2, 2023, 18:23 Today (Thursday) the Jerusalem District Court accepted Honenu’s appeal and conditionally released seven Yehuda and Shomron residents who were detained on suspicion of involvement with illegal acts at a demonstration protesting terror in Hawara. On Tuesday, an additional detainee was released several hours after he was detained, after it turned out that the detention order requested by the Yehuda and Shomron Police and issued by Jerusalem Magistrate Court Judge Gioia Skappa-Shapiro was baseless.
Honenu Attorney Nati Rom, who represented the detainees, stated, “As we claimed from the start, the police and the GSS are on a campaign to detain settlers, without having any evidence, in staged detentions for the media, likely in preparation for administrative orders. No evidence was presented incriminating the detainees, who asserted their innocence from the first moment. We are pleased that the court accepted our appeal and released the detainees.”
