Wednesday, October 9, 2024, 14:27 Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher wrote to the police demanding that they arrest an Arab bus driver working for Afikim Public Transportation Ltd. The driver had posted videos on his Tik Tok account inciting violence against Jews and cursing Jewish passengers. (See videos below.)
In his letter, Attorney Bleicher described the incitement: “The driver, Abu Almejad, uploaded antisemitic videos to his Tik Tok account. The videos depict him threatening Jews wearing traditional clothing. In one of the videos, he filmed himself lighting a lighter in front of a background of a passenger wearing clothing typical of Hareidi Jews, giving the impression that he was setting the passenger on fire. The driver added the caption, ‘Imagine that I set him on fire.’ In another video, a dirty bus is shown, and he says, ‘I found the bus like this. That’s how it is. A nation of pigs, a dirty people, an inferior people.’ An additional video uploaded by the driver that was apparently recorded for him by a passenger shows him saying in Arabic, ‘Qalandia, Ramallah, I will k*** anybody who throws anything on the floor.’ In the background there are Jewish passengers wearing traditional Hareidi clothing.”
Additionally, Attorney Bleicher demanded that the police arrest the dangerous driver and put him on trial: “Because the suspect is a public bus driver responsible for the lives and safety of hundreds of Jewish citizens every day, he is no less than a ‘ticking time bomb.’ I demand that the suspect be arrested without delay and put on trial for his acts.”
Attorney Bleicher commented on the case: “An antisemitic bus driver who publicizes incitement to violence poses a great danger to the public. We expect the driver to be arrested, tried in court, and never allowed to work for a public transportation company.”
