Thursday, April 10, 2025, 13:03 Two years ago, a young Arab woman attacked a ten-year-old Jewish boy in the Old City of Jerusalem as he was walking home. She beat him, kicked him, and pulled his side curls hard. After the incident, Honenu filed a complaint with the police on behalf of the boy. Despite security camera recordings and an admission by the assailant of the attack, the State Attorney’s office closed the case. Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher appealed the case closing and recently filed an NIS 100,000 civil suit with the Jerusalem Magistrates Court against the assailant.
In the statement of claim, Attorney Bleicher describes the incident: “When the claimant passed the defendant and her friends, she turned her head and shouted at the claimant. The claimant was startled by the shout and immediately asked the defendant why she had shouted. After the claimant continued on his way for several meters, the defendant turned around and quickly approached the claimant in a threatening manner as she stomped her feet in his direction. The claimant took one step toward the defendant to demonstrate confidence. Then the defendant charged the claimant, beat him, kicked him, seized his side curls and pulled them for many seconds. Her friends tried to separate them, but she maintained her grasp, causing the claimant great suffering. The claimant shouted ‘Help!’ Two young Jewish men who were passing the site came to his assistance and put a stop to the incident.”
Attorney Bleicher issued a statement: “This was a shocking antisemitic attack on a ten-year-old boy. The assailant was at least six years older than him and significantly larger. She attacked him only because of his Jewish appearance. No Jewish child should experience such a traumatic incident. We will not be silent. We will act with all legal means to force the vicious assailant to pay a high price for her acts. We will make every effort to create deterrence against Islamist attackers who do not balk at any act to undermine the security of Jews in the capital of Israel.”
