Supreme Court doubles award to family attacked by terrorist in Jerusalem

Tuesday, October 13, 2026, 9:51 In 2025, Adam Abbasi, an Arab terrorist, threw Molotov cocktails at a family’s home in Jerusalem while seven people, including children, were inside. After Abbasi’s criminal conviction, Honenu Attorneys Chaim Bleicher and Azriel Pikar assisted the family in filing a related civil claim against him. The Jerusalem District Court ordered him to pay the family only NIS 31,500 in compensation.

The family appealed to the Supreme Court. Justice Wilner accepted the appeal, repeatedly noting during the hearing that the original award was too low. She doubled the compensation for the victims to NIS 63,000, plus 15% attorney’s fees and VAT.

Attorney Bleicher stated: “Hitting terrorists in the pocket delivers justice to the victims and serves as an important tool for deterrence and for restoring security to Jewish residents of East Jerusalem and the entire country. Increasing compensation for victims is significant, but we believe it remains insufficient. We will continue seeking justice for terror victims for as long as these cases continue, and the claims against terrorists will keep growing.”
