Verdict to be handed down in Zemora case

Thursday, July 12, 2018, 9:41 On Monday, July 16, at 9:30 the Ofer Military Court is scheduled to hand down their verdict on the terrorist who stabbed and seriously injured Nirit Zemora at the Etzion Bloc Intersection parking lot on October 28, 2015.
Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, who is assisting Zemora and her family with legal counsel, stated that, “We expect the maximum penalty to be given to the terrorist, at least 20 years. The terror law in effect in Israel has set an increased penalty for terrorists.”
At an earlier stage in the trial the terrorist was acquitted of attempted murder and convicted only of aggravated assault. The knife broke during the stabbing and according to the judges it is impossible to prove that the terrorist intended to murder.
During the course of the trial Bleicher filed a reckoning of the damages the terrorist caused to Zemora, the sum of which is approximately five million NIS. The reckoning includes injury, pain, suffering and punitive damages.
