Monday, February 3, 2020, 20:10 On Monday, February 3, an approximately 18-year-old Ariel resident was detained by the GSS and the police. He was taken to the GSS facility in the central region of Israel, served with an order prohibiting him from meeting with an attorney, and will be brought to the Petah Tikva Magistrates Court for a deliberation on Tuesday, February 4.
In related news, on Monday, February 3, the Petah Tikva Magistrates Court extended the remand of the approximately 20-year-old youth detained on Sunday, who is also prohibited from speaking to an attorney, until the following Sunday, February 9. Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar, who is representing the detaineee, filed an appeal with the district court on the decision.
Keidar: “The [Petah Tikva] Magistrates Court extended the remand for a prolonged period of time, over which an appeal was filed, asking the district court to release the detainee or to shorten his remand. One month ago a similar case opened, and ended quietly. Under these circumstances I expect more cautious behavior, especially since in similar circumstances members of minority groups are not investigated at all, there is no law enforcement and Jewish lives are disregarded.”
