The letter from Honenu Attorney Keidar

Sunday, February 2, 2020, 14:20 On the morning of Sunday, February 2, GSS forces detained an approximately 20-year-old youth in the Shilo Bloc, searched his place of work and refused to divulge the reason for his detention. He has been served with an order prohibiting him from meeting with an attorney for four days. Honenu Attorneys Nati Rom and Adi Keidar are looking into the reason for the detention and assisting the detainee. Keidar wrote a letter to the head of the team of GSS interrogators demanding that the interrogators into whose conduct the Mivtan opened an investigation following recent complaints from interrogatees, not take part in the interrogation of the detainee.
From the letter: “In light of complaints from the interrogatees in the previous case, who complained about the improper conduct of the interrogators, which included sleep deprivation, offensive investigative conduct, sexual harassment, and more – everything is detailed in the minutes and in the complaint filed by the detainee with the Mivtan – we demand that all of the interrogators who are the subjects of the complaints not take part in this interrogation.”
The Mivtan is the department of the Justice Ministry authorized to investigate complaints by GSS interrogatees, and is the authority parallel to the Police Investigation Unit, which investigates complaints about policemen. Over the past few days, the Mivtan has begun checking into the many complaints by GSS interrogatees of brutality and harassment during recent interrogations.
