Wednesday, May 21, 2025, 12:45 This morning (Wednesday), Honenu’s headquarters received a report that two “Tzav 9” activists had been detained near the Kerem Shalom Crossing protesting the passage of humanitarian aid trucks to the Gaza Strip because the aid virtually always ends up in the hands of Hamas. The two detainees, a man and a woman, were suspected of disturbing a police officer in the line of duty, and were taken to the Netivot Police Station. A short time later, a third “Tzav 9” activist, who was also blocking trucks near the crossing, was detained and taken to the same station. Honenu attorneys assisted the detainees.
Honenu Attorney Nati Rom leveled criticism at the police: “A short time ago, demonstrators protesting the passage of aid to the enemy at a time of war were detained near Kerem Shalom. This detention is baseless and extremely difficult to explain in light of the many large protests being held throughout Israel at which nobody is detained. I call on the law enforcement authorities to stop this discriminatory treatment. I expect the detainees to be released immediately.”
