12:18 Policeman beat 12-year-old without cause
At a Wednesday night protest in Jerusalem a policeman unjustifiably beat a 12-year-old. Four other protesters were detained.
Honenu Attorney Rehvia Piltz: “The boy participated in a demonstration on Bar-Ilan Street protesting the death of Ahuvia Sandak, z”l, and saw policemen chasing demonstrators and therefore decided to flee. One of the policemen who was chasing him grabbed him and took him to a police car.”
The boy told Piltz that in the police car the policeman had told him, “Never cause a policeman to chase you,” and then punched him in the chest. The boy was taken to the police station where after he complained about his brutal treatment, the police claimed that he had set a garbage can on fire. He was released after interrogation, and then reported to Honenu Attorney Rehavia Piltz what had happened to him.
Honenu Attorney Rehvia Piltz: “After the police backed the policemen involved with the incident in whch Ahuvia was killed, the message trickled down. Policemen were given the message that beating and abusing protesters is acceptable, and that they will not be held accountable to anyone afterwards. An elementary-school-age boy was detained and the policeman who detained him had no mercy and punched him in the chest for no reason other than abuse.”
Yesterday evening demonstrations were held in dozens of locations throughout Israel. Protesters called for an external investigative committee and for the closing of the Central Unit of the Yehuda and Shomron Police.
In the Shomron, dozens of drivers participated in a caravan of cars which ended with a demonstration at the Tapuah Junction. Severe disruption of traffic was reported in the area.
Demonstrations took place in Ariel, Netivot, Nof Ayalon, Jerusalem, Ma’aleh Adumim, Karkur Junction, Kiryat Arba, and other locations.

The wave of demonstrations throughout Israel over the past 18 days in protest of the death of Ahuvia Sandak, z”l, has led to increased distribution of tickets for coronavirus regulations violations to protesters.
