Sunday, October 18, 2026, 11:28 The Ravshatzim Protest: Civilian security coordinators (ravshatzim) from across the country protested this morning (Sunday) over the Shabak’s detention of a security official from the Shomron and the conditions of his remand. Honenu is representing the detainee, who was held in solitary confinement under harsh conditions. The protest is a clear call for the Defense Minister to intervene.
The security coordinators arrived in a convoy of security vehicles from their communities, wearing their official shirts. The protest took place at the entrance to the Kirya (the IDF headquarters complex) in Tel Aviv (Begin Gate).
An invitation sent to civilian security coordinators in Yehuda and Shomron stated: “In light of our colleague’s detention, the severe conditions of his detention, the manner of the detention, and the offensive treatment of his family—treatment unworthy of any security officer who risks his life to protect the country—we are suspending normal activity. We cannot continue as usual, and we cannot remain silent.”
Over the weekend, Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council, met with the detained security official’s wife. He expressed support for her and her husband and called for his release. Dagan said: “This is a respected security official who, together with the army and the security establishment, handled dozens of incidents. On Rosh Hashanah he received a brigade letter of commendation. I expect the investigation to be conducted by the Military Police Investigation Unit and the police, not with the tools reserved for terrorists.” He told her: “We stand behind you and the security official. We stand behind all the security personnel and all the security coordinators in our area.”

Last night, about 100 civilian security coordinators from across the country signed an urgent letter to Defense Minister Yisrael Katz protesting the situation. They wrote (translation by Honenu):
“We, the undersigned civilian security coordinators, wish to express our strong protest against the manner of our colleague’s detention and the conditions of his remand.
“We find it difficult to accept that a person who has dedicated his life to protecting residents and community security is being detained and treated like the most dangerous terrorists, while his dignity and status as a civilian security officer are disregarded.
“We are particularly concerned about the detention conditions, including his being held in a solitary cell measuring roughly two meters by two meters by two meters. These conditions raise serious questions about proportionality and whether such treatment is justified.
“We expect the authorities to act responsibly, fairly, and proportionately, while respecting the detainee’s dignity and rights—especially in the case of someone who works for public security.
“Our colleague’s detention is not only a private matter. It affects the standing of all civilian security coordinators and civilian security personnel, who carry heavy responsibility and work every day for the safety of residents.
“We stand with our colleague and demand fair, respectful, and proportionate treatment. A red line has been crossed. We will not stand aside, and we will not remain silent.”
