An approximately 60-year-old man, a Shomron resident, was detained on suspicion of assaulting a policeman in clashes during the destruction of nine houses in Ofra. Earlier today an Ofra resident, a minor, was detained on similar charges. Honenu’s legal staff is ready to provide counsel to the detainees and also to protesters injured by police brutality.

The minor who was detained in the morning in Ofra will be brought to a deliberation at the Jerusalem Magistrate Court in the coming hours. A Honenu Attorney will represent him.

Two detainees, one of them a minor, were detained a short time ago during a demonstration at the main Yitzhar Junction against the destruction of nine houses in Ofra.
Demonstrators at the scene blocked the road to Arab traffic.
Reports are arriving of severe police brutality towards the demonstrators.
A Honenu Attorney is verifying the reason for the detention and providing legal counsel to the detainees.

Several protesters have been detained in Ofra during the past hour.
An adult resident of Ofra was detained as he operated a drone bringing food to protesters barricaded in a house scheduled for destruction.
Near the houses scheduled for destruction three minors, all of them girls, were detained. Witnesses to the detention stated that the girls were very brutally detained by border policewomen.
An approximately 30-year-old resident of Ofra was detained as he attempted to separate youths from policemen during a clash near the nine houses. He is charged with assaulting a policeman.
The detainees were taken to the Ma’aleh Adumim Police Station, where Honenu Attorney Yossi Nadav provided them with legal counsel.
Ofra residents close to the area of the nine houses being destroyed are reporting to Honenu that policemen are entering private yards without warrants and in violation of the law.
Reports of severe police brutality are arriving from the area of the nine houses.

At dawn all of the Ofra detainees from the previous night were released.
The detainees were interrogated at the Ma’aleh Adumim Police Station and released afterwards. Honenu Attorney Yossi Nadav assisted them with legal counsel at the station.
The adult detained yesterday at a demonstration in the Shomron protesting the destruction of houses in Ofra was taken into remand and will be brought today to a deliberation at the Petah Tikva Magistrate Court.

Ten youths, five of them minors were detained on the roof of the last house destroyed in Ofra on Wednesday, March 1. The police informed Honenu Attorney Yossi Nadav, who is assisting the youths, that they will spend the night in remand at the Ariel Police Station. The detainees are suspected of violating a demarcation order and assaulting a policeman. The detainees deny all charges.
The remainder of the detainees have been released.

On the morning of Thursday, March 2, the ten detainees from the roof of the last house destroyed in Ofra on the previous day will be brought to a deliberation at the Petah Tikva Magistrate Court. The detainees, five of them minors, will be represented by Honenu Attorneys Chai Haber and Yossi Nadav.
