Friday, January 4, 2019, 9:42 “Youth in Yehuda and Shomron (Yosh) have rights too!”
In light of the detention by the GSS of the three youths from Yehuda and Shomron, a mass demonstration will be held Saturday night, after Shabbat, opposite the Prime Minister’s residence in Jerusalem. The demonstration is scheduled to start at 20:00.
Rabbis, public figures, heads of councils and residents of Yehuda and Shomron are expected to participate in the demonstration in protest of the heavy-handed treatment by the GSS of youths in Yehuda and Shomron. The demonstrators will demand that Prime Minister Netanyahu, the official directly in charge of the GSS, stop the unrestrained conduct of agents in the Jewish Department of the GSS, stop the practice of imposing orders on minors forbidding them to meet with an attorney, and stop the use of injurious, humiliating methods of interrogation on minors, such as those revealed on the Israeli Uvda investigative and current affairs program.
The organizers of the demonstration announced: “In no other region of the country would law enforcement authorities allow themselves to raid a classroom in the middle of a class, detain a student in a display of force and impose draconian orders on him. The residents of Yosh have rights too!”
Text of the poster:
Bring the boys home!
Prime Minister, Sir, settlers have basic rights too!
Following the rabbis’ call and in preparation for the deliberation on extending the prohibition on meeting with an attorney and on extending the remand, all of us – heads of councils, rabbis, public figure and residents – will go up [to Jerusalem] to protest the cruel treatment by the Jewish Department of the GSS of the three detained youth.
Stop treating our children as if they were TERRORISTS!
