Tuesday, July 17, 2019, 15:18 On the night of Monday, July 16, Netanel Yaluz, a 21 year old newlywed, was detained at his home in Adei Ad, a Shilo Bloc community. The police entered his house without presenting a detention warrant, and, while his wife was watching, handcuffed him before he had a chance to put on his shoes. Yaluz was taken to the Central Unit of the Yehuda and Shomron Police Station in Ma’aleh Adumim. He was interrogated and released three hours later. The police transported him to the Hizmeh Checkpoint, and left him there at midnight.

Yaluz’s wife, Ayana, recorded the detention. In the video clip the policeman is seen in the doorway without a warrant: He entered the house and only then asked for the warrant from one of the policemen standing behind him. The policeman handcuffed Yaluz before he had a chance to take his tefilin and put on his shoes. After the couple pleaded with the policemen, they allowed Yaluz to put on his shoes, while he was handcuffed, and then took him to the police station.
Ayana Yaluz, Netanel’s wife: “The police are intentionally hassling us. For what did they detain a married man, at night, so quickly that he barely had time to put on his shoes, and then release him three hours later? What was so urgent? What’s more, they left him at midnight at the Hizmeh Checkpoint, and from there he had to hitch-hike home. I was very concerned about him. This is over-policing.”
Honenu: “The disgraceful conduct of the Central Unit of the Yehuda and Shomron Police continues, and we all pay a heavy price for it. Instead of dealing with solving serious crimes and eradicating the terror rampant on the roads of Yehuda and Shomron, every night, large squads arrive at the homes of young Jews to abuse them and make their lives miserable. Who is authorizing the huge budgetary waste on these ridiculous detentions!?”
