Sunday, August 31, 2025, 12:26 A week ago, the GSS detained several Yehuda and Shomron residents. All but one of them have been released to house arrest. The remaining detainee was interrogated, and then met with an attorney from Honenu. Afterward, he was forbidden to meet with an attorney, and has been for four days. At the end of last week, the GSS added a 3-day extension to the order prohibiting the detainee from meeting with an attorney. The order expires tonight (Sunday). Honenu Attorney Daniel Shimshilashvilli is representing the detainee.
Attorney Shimshilashvilli: “Over the past few days we have seen protesters coming all the way to the Chief of Staff’s home, and openly vandalizing his house. We have also seen ‘protesters’ burning tires and blocking Route 1. No detainee’s remand was extended in connection with those incidents, and absolutely nobody was thrown into the GSS dungeons and denied their right to meet with an attorney. There are hostages in the Gaza Strip because the GSS utterly failed to protect them, and yet, instead of investing resources in locating the hostages and thwarting terrorists, the GSS continues to throw Yehuda and Shomron residents into the dungeons. This is an impossible situation. The authorities need to wake up and fight our actual enemies. We will continue to use all legal means at our disposal to ensure that the detainee’s rights are upheld.”
