Honenu Attorney Gonen: “My clients defended themselves from attack”

Wednesday, December 17, 2025, 9:41 Honenu Attorney Asaf Gonen is representing three Jews accused of attacking Arabs in Yaffo yesterday. Their identities and personal details have been placed under a gag order. Earlier today, the Tel Aviv Magistrates Court extended their remand by five days. Attorney Gonen appealed the decision to the Tel Aviv District Court.

In the appeal, Attorney Gonen underscored that contrary to reports in the media, his clients acted in self-defense after being attacked by several Arab men and two Arab women. He added that at the hearing, the police did not present any objective evidence supporting the complainants’ version of events.

Attorney Gonen issued a statement: “Unfortunately, the Israel Police is insisting that the detainees are the ones who instigated the incident and attacked the complainants. However, as of now, no objective evidence has been presented that supports the complainants’ testimony. I will continue to fight for the innocence of my clients.”

Yesterday, Attorney Gonen stated, “My clients are the ones who were attacked without any provocation on their part. They came to Yaffo to go on a walk in the city, and came into contact with several Arab men and two Arab women who clustered around them and threatened them. My clients defended themselves from attack in an extremely proportionate manner. Regrettably, the media immediately adopted the other side’s version of events without waiting for the court to clarify the situation.”
