Thursday, October 10, 2024, 15:51 The Haifa District Court convicted three of the Arab rioters who took part in a brutal attack on Mor Janashvilli in Acco during Operation Guardian of the Walls three years ago. Two rioters were convicted of aggravated assault in an act of terror. A third rioter was acquitted of committing an act of terror, but convicted of other crimes. Nine rioters have been arrested in the case, some of whom are serving prison sentences. Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher is representing Janashvilli.

Mor Janashvilli spoke after the hearing: “I feel that more could have been done in the criminal proceedings. Only two of the terrorists were convicted of an act of terror, and the third was acquitted. I do not understand how the judge could acquit this terrorist who lied throughout the entire trial. This terrorist was at the attack, and seriously injured me. During the trial, a conversation between the terrorist and his mother was revealed. He bragged about his part in the attack, similar to publicized conversations between Nukhba terrorists and their families. We will continue to demand justice. We must fight terror and deport the families of the terrorists who injured me.”

Attorney Bleicher added, “We expect the court to hand down stiff sentences to all three terrorists. Unfortunately, the third terrorist, despite his proven presence at the attack and his incitement of violence, was acquitted of committing an act of terror due to difficulties with obtaining the evidence necessary to convict him of specific crimes. We think that everyone who took part in the attack should rot in prison for the rest of his life. To that end, we hope that the court will impose lengthy prison sentences on all of the terrorists.”

During Operation Guardian of the Walls (May 2021), Janashvilli was brutally attacked in Acco as he drove to visit his mother. Dozens of Arab rioters pelted his car with large rocks, heavy furniture, and anything else they could get their hands on. Janashvilli lost control of his car, drove it into a wall, and was forced to flee. The Arab mob beat him with clubs and kicked him until he collapsed on the ground in a semi-conscious state. He was saved at the last moment, apparently by Arabs who called the emergency services. He was evacuated by ambulance to the hospital, suffering from bruises on his entire body, broken bones, cuts on his face, partial paralysis in his left leg, headaches, and dizziness. Since the attack, Janshvilli has waged an uncompromising legal battle demanding that all of his attackers be brought to justice.
