Sunday, January 28, 2024, 16:24 This morning (Sunday) hundreds of protesters blocked the Kerem Shalom Crossing where trucks were arriving to transport humanitarian aid to Gaza. Among the protesters was Eliyahu Dahan, who was seriously injured in a stabbing attack in Jerusalem in October 2022. Dahan came even though he is still using crutches. His attacker, Muhamed Abu Katish, was expected to be released in the hostage release deal, but in the end, his release was prevented.
At the protest site, Dahan explained that he had come to block the aid to Hamas despite his physical difficulty: “I arrived at the Kerem Shalom Crossing. There are trucks of food here that are supposed to reach our murderous enemies. I came to block the crossing with the devoted Jews who came here, all of them at the expense of their daily lives and jobs. I came here instead of going to rehabilitative medical treatment because of the supreme value of our existential war in which we must take part. Our enemies are still holding their heads high. We are not willing to give them the great power of hundreds of trucks of aid.”
Dahan declared that if he is asked, he will repeatedly return to block the crossing: “We will come here every day so that the enemy will not be given strength. I greatly appreciate everyone who has come here. There are hundreds of people here but there need to be many more. I expect to see all of Israel here.”
Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, who is representing Eliyahu Dahan, stated, “We at Honenu represent many terror victims, and we are always surprised to see how particularly victims of murderous terror attacks find a mission in their situation and devote their energy to the war on terror for the benefit of all of Israel. The message is unequivocal: One must fight terror and not surrender.”
