GSS threatens protesters hours after terror attack

Thursday, January 9, 2025, 12:01 A GSS agent known as “Orel” threatened several youths who were detained while taking part in a protest hours after three Shomron residents were murdered in a terror attack near the Arab village of al-Funduq on Monday. The GSS agent filmed the youths, and in a threatening talk with them said, “You’ve been put on my blacklist. If I come across you again, you’ll go to prison.”

One of the protesters described his detention: “We held a demonstration at Tapuah Junction protesting the security situation. The border police detained us and took us to their base in Tapuah. Suddenly, a man in civilian clothes came in and started to threaten us: ‘I won’t leave you alone. You’re on my blacklist from now on.’ We are a country of law, not Russia. What’s going on here?”

Another protester added, “After I was detained, ‘Orel’ arrived and told me, ‘If I run into you again, I’ll arrest you, put you in prison. I am your biggest problem from now until the rest of your life.’ I do not understand how I got from a protest about the appalling security situation to a talk from the GSS. What is this?”

Honenu Director Shmuel (Zangi) Meidad stated, “I demand the immediate identification of the GSS coordinator who threatened the youths. He must be arrested and tried in court. This isn’t Soviet Russia, and anyone who hasn’t understood that yet must pay the price so that everyone will be aware and be warned.”
