Wednesday, March 5, 2025, 11:23 Three years ago, a group of Arabs threw Molotov cocktails at the home of a Jewish family on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, and shot fireworks at police officers who arrived on the scene. Four of the assailants were arrested and sentenced to prison terms. The victims were awarded compensation. Recently, Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, acting on behalf of the family in civil proceedings, filed an NIS 480,000 suit against the assailants.

Attorney Bleicher underscored the importance of deterrence: “We are making a concerted effort on the judicial front to fight terror and increase deterrence by suing terrorists for damages in civil proceedings. We believe that when Arab terrorists are more severely penalized, deterrence will increase, reducing the motivation to commit acts of terror. The associates of those terrorists will fear the consequences of emulating their murderous acts.”
