Tuesday, August 11, 2026, 15:35 A hearing has just concluded at the Jerusalem Magistrates’ Court on Tal Yinon Dardik’s request for release. Dardik was represented by Honenu Attorneys Nati Rom and Daniel Shimshilashvilli, who argued before the judge that his detention is illegal and that, following the court’s earlier decision, he must be released immediately.
It should be noted that the Yehuda and Shomron District Police prosecution also agrees to Dardik’s release, after the administrative order that led to his arrest was canceled by the Military Court of Appeals and an appeal filed by Major General Avi Bluth against that decision was rejected by the Jerusalem District Court. Before the hearing, Dardik stated: “I stand by my innocence and insist on being allowed to return to guarding my farm.” Magistrates’ Court Judge Amir Shaked is expected to issue a ruling in the coming hours.
At the conclusion of the hearing, Attorney Rom stated: “We left the hearing with strong judicial criticism. It is unclear why Tal Yinon was not released yesterday. The state itself requested his release, a judge ordered his release, and they simply disregarded the judicial decision. He remains in detention after 38 days of a hunger strike and is in poor physical condition. There is no justification for his detention, and certainly no criminal justification. This is contamination of the criminal proceedings. We hope and expect the court to order his immediate release in the coming hours.”
Attorney Daniel Shimshilashvilli added: “During the hearing, the court asked the state’s representative a simple question she could not answer: why they are insisting on continuing to detain Tal Yinon, when even a brief look shows how serious his medical condition is. We believe that every minute he remains in detention after the clear decisions of the Appeals Committee and the District Court – which ruled that requiring him to stay at his mother-in-law’s house (which she opposes) is illegal – means the detention itself is also illegal. We expect the court to state its position decisively, and this was even hinted at quite clearly during the hearing.”

Miriam Dardik, Tal Yinon’s wife, also commented after the hearing: “My husband has already been detained for over a month. We were just in court, and [they presented] no evidence and no proof of anything. They don’t even talk about that or address the fact that a person has been held for so long over nothing.”
