Wednesday, June 12, 17:33 Approximately two weeks ago two youths, both residents of the Jewish Quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem, were detained on suspicion of assaulting and robbing an Arab. After an initial investigation the police requested that their remand be extended. The court extended their remand by seven days. At the end of seven days being as the police were not yet ready to file an indictment the Jerusalem District Court ordered that the youths be released and put under a restraining order banning them from entering the site of the incident. The Jerusalem District Court also leveled criticism at the Jerusalem Police for filing a large number of futile appeals. After several days the police filed an indictment and harshened the release conditions to complete house arrest.
On the morning of Wednesday, June 12 attorney Itamar Ben-Gvir, with the assistance of Honenu, filed an appeal which was accepted in full by the court and the house arrest was canceled.
