Friday, March 30, 2018, 12:09 Three adults have also been detained on suspicion of intending to perform the Passover sacrifice.
Saturday, March 31, 2018, 21:49 A mere matter of hours before the start of the Passover holiday, the Jerusalem Magistrate Court ordered the release of the five detainees detained on suspicion of preparing to perform the Passover sacrifice.
Jerusalem Magistrate Court Judge Eitan Cohen rejected the police demand to distance the detainees from the Old City of Jerusalem, including the Muslim Quarter, and ordered the release of four of the detainees on their own recognition and on bail, and one solely on his own recognition.
The detainees, two of them minors, were detained in the Old City of Jerusalem on Friday morning, some of them with young male goats, on suspicion of intending to perform the Passover sacrifice near the Temple Mount. The detainees were interrogated on suspicion of intent to disturb public order.
Honenu Attorney Rehavia Piltz, who represented the five detainees at several deliberations, stated that, “The tendency of the police to restrict the movement of Jews in the Old City caused them to bring this matter to court, before the policemen who were present at the incident reported what exactly had happened. The court rejected this move. It is a shame that the Israeli Police do not devote their resources and their energy to dealing terror attacks and ensuring the safety of Jews in the Old City.”
