Adei Ad resident detained near Shiloh released

Tuesday, February 17, 2015, 16:22 On Tuesday, February 17, the Israeli Civil Administration and the Israeli Police came to the Shiloh Bloc in the Binyamin region to destroy structures, including residential structures, in three hilltop communities. Clashes broke out between policemen and residents protesting the destruction. An Adei Ad resident was detained by border policemen, taken to the Sha’ar Binyamin Police Station for interrogation, and several hours later unconditionally released.
According to eye witnesses, during the incident the police used violence against the detainee and some of the policemen at the scene were not wearing identification tags.
Honenu stated in response to the incident that, “The unconditional release of the detainee proves that he was falsely and unnecessarily detained. We deplore the violence used against the detainee and other residents of the area by border policemen, some of whom were not wearing identification tags. We hope that the detainee will be appropriately compensated.”
