Arab attacks Jewish hiker, Honenu demands arrest

Tuesday February 4, 2025, 13:34 In late January, an Arab attacked a Jewish hiker near Hamra in the Jordan Valley. The Arab demanded that the hiker leave the site, and when he refused, the Arab beat him over the head with a club. The victim summoned help and was transported from the site, bleeding from his head. Honenu filed a complaint with police on behalf of the victim. The Arab assailant was detained, but released within a day by the military court despite video recording of the attack filmed by the victim (see below). Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, who is representing the victim, wrote a letter to the Military Advocate General demanding the arrest and prosecution of the assailant.

Attorney Bleicher commented on the case: “It is intolerable for a terrorist who attacked a 16-year-old Jewish youth to be immediately released by the military court and permitted to return to the site of the attack. The courts must enable the security forces to directly combat Arab terror and hand down rulings that will deter potential terrorists. The lives and security of Jewish Jordan Valley residents must not be abandoned. Releasing terrorists cheapens the blood of local Jewish residents. We demand the immediate arrest of the terrorist, and that he be given an appropriate custodial sentence”
