Monday, December 16, 2024, 9:08 In May 2021, an Arab resident of Yaffo attacked two Jews, a man and his father, near the Yaffo Port (see video below). Although the Arab was detained, the State Attorney’s office closed the case because the evidence was insufficient for a criminal indictment. Recently, Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher sued the attacker on behalf of the victims in civil proceedings for NIS 250,000 at the Tel Aviv Magistrates Court.

In the statement of claim, Attorney Bleicher described the attack: “On May 12, 2021, the claimants drove with their two dogs to photograph the entry road to the Yaffo Port. After they had taken several photographs, they made a U-turn towards Clock Tower Square. As they were driving on HaAliya HaShniya Street, suddenly a motorcyclist approached their car, cursed them, and then blocked their lane. When Claimant A got out of the car, the defendant approached him, shoved him, beat him, and kicked him in his lower back. He also pulled out Claimant A’s drainage tube that he had following a femoral hernia operation. Claimant B was about to get out of the car to assist Claimant A, but the motorcyclist assaulted him, sprayed pepper spray in his face, and then immediately pepper sprayed Claimant A. Claimant A fell back into the car, and the assailant pepper sprayed the interior of the car, injuring the dogs as well.”

After filing the suit, Attorney Bleicher stated, “We will make every effort to exact a price from the antisemitic attacker, and we will not give up.”
