Thursday, December 12, 2024, 15:24 One week ago, an IDF soldier was seriously injured in a car-ramming attack near Hevron. Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, who is representing the soldier, wrote a letter to Defense Minister Yisrael Katz and the GOC of the Central Command, Major-General Avi Bluth, demanding the immediate demolition of the terrorist’s house. The soldier lost his leg in the car-ramming and is still hospitalized.

In the letter, Attorney Bleicher described the importance of quickly demolishing the terrorist’s house: “The despicable and vicious terrorist did everything he could to murder my client, a combat soldier in the reserves and a father. The terrorist did this only because my client is a Jew fighting in the defense of Israel. Islamic terror is reaching new heights of contempt and cruelty. We must act decisively, with an iron fist, against such terror. The State must use all means possible to create effective deterrence against terrorists who would take a car and turn it into a dangerous terror weapon.

“However, this important step [house demolition] is usually carried out only when a terrorist succeeds in carrying out his plot in its entirety, in other words, when he actually murders. Creating a dangerous and absurd policy whereby only a terrorist who succeeds in murdering his victim and is considered a hero [by his community] will have his house demolished is dancing with terror and sends a message indicating a lack of determination to defeat terror at an early stage.”
