Background: Two weeks ago, a Modi’in Ilit resident entered the nearby Arab town of Deir Qaddis. As he was standing on the street, he noticed an Arab chasing another Jew and trying to stab him with a knife. When the Arab noticed the Modi’in Ilit resident, he changed his course and started to chase and attempt to stab him. At some point, the Arab tried to stab the Modi’in resident in the neck and upper body. The victim struggled with the terrorist, who in the end injured his shoulder.
The victim was transported to the hospital and released the same day. However, if the terrorist had carried out his plan, he would have caused a much more serious injury. Attorney Bleicher sent a statement of representation to the police stating that the incident was a nationalistically motivated attempted murder, a terror attack. Today (Monday), he wrote a letter to the Military Advocate General requesting that they treat the incident with the appropriate gravity and prosecute the terrorist to the full extent of the law for his two nationalistically motivated attempts to murder Jews.
Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher added, “We thank the security forces for apprehending the terrorist who carried out the terror attack in Deir Qaddis. The terrorist was determined to murder Jews and attempted to do so twice. Miraculously, the attack ended in a light injury. However, that must not lead to the acquittal of the terrorist. He must be penalized to the full extent of the law.”
