Wednesday, August 28, 2024, 17:52 Tomorrow (Thursday) four Yehuda and Shomron residents who have been under administrative detention for a week on suspicion of taking part in disturbances in the Shomron will be brought to a hearing at the Central District Court in Lod. After the police were not able to find evidence against them, the Defense Minister placed them under administrative detention. As with all administrative orders, no evidence was presented to the recipients and they were not granted the benefit of a trial. The orders signed by Minister Gallant bring the total to 25 orders issued by him to Jews since he took office. Honenu Attorneys Adi Keidar and Nati Rom, who are representing the administrative detainees, will demand their immediate release.
Honenu Attorneys Adi Keidar and Nati Rom issued a statement: “It is regrettable that at a time of war, one of the most difficult periods that the State of Israel has known, we need to contend with representatives of the security authorities of the State of Israel in court. The security authorities should be fully involved with the security of Israeli citizens and repelling the tremendous threats situated at our borders. We are facing an unprecedented wave of administrative orders the likes of which we have not seen since the founding of the State.
“Unfortunately, the courts have chosen to be a permanent rubber stamp for the whims of the GSS. The rights of Yehuda and Shomron residents are being trampled under the crushing feet of the GSS. Despite this, we will not give up, and we will raise a clear voice against the injustices that the GSS and Minister Gallant have inflicted on Yehuda and Shomron residents.”
