Friday, January 10, 2014, 14:37 Jerusalem District Court Judge Raphael Ya’akobi rejected a request by the police to appeal the decision of the Jerusalem Magistrate Court to release the seven Jews detained in the Kfar Qusra incident after an Arab mob attempted to lynch them. The district court rejected out of hand the police request to delay carrying out the release by 48 hours. The request apparently followed a direct order from the Attorney General, Shai Nitzan.
Jerusalem Magistrate Court Judge Mordechai Kaduri had already rejected the request by the police to extend the remand of the detainees. Judge Kaduri also drew criticism on the police, especially for their powerlessness in light of their lack of investigating the rioting Arab assailants.
Six of the detainees are being represented by Honenu attorney Adi Kedar.
Honenu notes that, “Again in several courts of law it has been proven that the Israeli Police chooses time after time to persecute Jewish victims instead of dealing with the rioting Arabs.”
