Wednesday, March 12, 2025, 11:13 Six years ago, an Arab brutally attacked a Jew in Lod after the Jew asked the Arab’s wife to move her car because it was blocking his. The attack occurred in front of the victim’s three children. The Arab was arrested and sentenced to 300 hours of community service. The victim was also awarded compensation. Recently, Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher filed an NIS 75,000 suit against the assailant in civil proceedings on behalf of the victim with the Ramle Magistrates Court.
The indictment filed against the Arab describes the brutal attack: “On December 8, 2019, the claimant drove his car to pick up his daughter from kindergarten. The wife of the defendant parked her car at the same location and blocked the claimant’s car. The claimant asked her to move her car, but she refused. The claimant photographed the defendant’s wife and her car with his mobile phone. In response, she tried to wrest the phone from claimant’s hands and hit him in the face. Then the defendant and a second, unidentified, individual arrived on the scene and attacked the claimant. The two assailants grabbed his shirt, pulled him, and punched him several times in his face. The claimant fell down, and while he was lying on the ground, the assailants kicked him hard several times. As a result of the attack by the defendant and the second unidentified assailant, the claimant suffered several injuries to his face and body (actual assault).”
Attorney Bleicher commented on the case: “This suit has been filed over a brutal attack on a Jew whose only crime was to ask an Arab woman to move her car because it was blocking his. Unfortunately, the attack did not receive the appropriate response in criminal proceedings. Instead of putting the attacker in prison and keeping him away from the public for several years, he was given a lenient penalty that is no deterrent. Islamic violence against Jews must be severely penalized. We hope that the suit will exact a punitive and appropriate penalty from the assailant. Only sufficient penalties will lead to deterrence against potential assailants who take advantage of any opportunity to injure Jews.”
