Tuesday, December 31, 2024, 16:16 At the initiative of Honenu and Likud member Dor Harlap, hundreds of Likud Central Committee members, heads of local branches, and key activists from all parts of Israel wrote a letter to Defense Minister Israel Katz, calling on him to release the Jewish administrative detainees, some of whom are married and have children. The detainees have been held for four months. They were not granted a trial, and no evidence against them was presented. Senior members of the Likud Central Committee are among the signatories of the letter.
In their letter, the Likud members commend Minister Katz for his decision to stop the use of administrative orders against Jews and call on him to release the Jewish detainees who are currently in custody: “We support your efforts to strengthen the security of Israel and your commitment to the values of the Likud and the nationalist camp. We ask you to consider the continuation of the remand of the administrative detainees being held without a trial. We are of the opinion that it is appropriate for you to examine the possibility of their immediate release.”
Honenu Attorney Nati Rom, who is representing the detainees, stated, “The bold decision by Defense Minister Katz to end the use of administrative orders against Jewish Yehuda and Shomron residents should hold true for the administrative detainees under orders signed by former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant as well. Every moment that they are detained prolongs the injustice that we are all obligated to act to stop.”
