Thursday, September 5, 2024, 14:29 Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar wrote a letter to the GOC of the Central Command, Major-General Avi Bluth, on behalf of a Yehuda and Shomron resident. The resident is under an administrative restraining order, and Honenu requested that Maj.-Gen Bluth cancel the order. The order, which was reduced from its original six months, bans the resident, who is engaged to be married in the coming months, from entering the Yehuda and Shomron regions until October, and thus interferes with his preparation for his marriage. Maj.-Gen. Bluth denied the request, claiming a “concern for the security of the region.” Additionally, the resident was released from a lengthy administrative detention three months ago.
In the request, Attorney Keidar underscored that the resident is not dangerous, and therefore there are no grounds to ban him from the Yehuda and Shomron regions: “On June 2, my client completed a lengthy administrative detention, and on May 29, at Ayalon Prison, where he was serving his term, he received a notice informing him of the intent to issue him an order banning his entrance to Yehuda and Shomron for the lengthy period of six months. The undersigned sent a detailed objection citing, among other claims, that issuing an administrative order for such a lengthy period of time after an administrative detention is not justified and does not meet the criteria of decisive and specific security considerations at the actual time of the order. The objection was received, the duration of order was reduced, and thus it is scheduled to end in one month, on October 2, 2024. Since he began serving the administrative restraining order, my client has been living in northern Israel, in his parents’ house in Carmiel, and working at a construction company as a salaried worker. He is living his life responsibly, without any irregularities.”
Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar leveled criticism at the security authorities: “Recently, my client became engaged and is trying to make the preparations necessary to properly start his married life. My client does not pose any danger to anyone, certainly not after serving a long administrative detention. One would expect the security authorities to agree to my client’s basic request. However, they are persisting in their harassment of Yehuda and Shomron residents. This persecution must stop.”
