Wednesday, May 10, 2023, 13:12 The Department of Prosecutions of the Jerusalem Police filed indictments against Qussai Juaba and Fadi Juaba, two Arabs who assaulted a Jewish man and his mother approximately one year ago in the Old City of Jerusalem, causing them multiple injuries. The indictment charges the assailants with the crime of common assault. The victims filed a complaint with the police, who arrested the assailants. Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher is assisting the victims with the legal proceedings.
The indictment describes the assault: “On July 23, July 2022, the [first] complainant and his mother [the second complainant] were walking on David Street in the Old City of Jerusalem towards the Jewish Quarter. When the first complainant passed the defendant’s store, he asked the defendant to apologize to [his mother, the second] complainant for his behavior in an incident a month earlier, when the defendant cursed the second complainant. In response, the defendant shouted at him, accused him of lying, raised a stick, and attempted to strike the complainant on the head. However, the complainant raised his arm which the defendant then struck.
“The other defendant joined in and [the two] continued to strike and kick the complainant. The two defendants then knocked down the [second] complainant, who suffered abrasions to her left shin and elbow. She also has pains in her upper extremities and left shoulder, shin, and knee. The first complainant suffered abrasions to his right forehead, his throat, and his back.”
Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher commented on the indictments: “We will follow this case and make every effort to ensure that the defendants are penalized to the full extent of the law in both criminal and civil proceedings. The defendants and friends must understand that it does not pay – and will not pay – to assault and injure Jews.”
