Monday November 25, 2024, 14:17 The Jerusalem District Court handed down a relatively stiff sentence to an Arab minor who carried out a terror attack in the Old City of Jerusalem two years ago. The terrorist, who was 14 years old at the time of the attack, left his home in East Jerusalem with a knife, went to the Old City of Jerusalem, and when he happened upon a Jew, stabbed him many times, chasing him as he fled. The victim was injured in his back and taken to hospital. The terrorist was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment, and the victim was awarded NIS 30,000 compensation.

Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, who is representing the victim, stated, “We thank the court for imposing a lengthy prison sentence on the terrorist despite his young age. We intend to sue the terrorist in civil court as well. When the matter at hand is a terror crime, not a criminal offense, the severity of the penalty must be increased, even if the perpetrator is a minor. In the war on terror, any consideration of age or desire for rehabilitation must be rejected in light of the need to eradicate terror.”
