Thursday, July 6, 2023, 13:03 The Jerusalem Magistrates Court released the soldier who was detained approximately two weeks ago after the Eli terror attack. The soldier was held by the GSS under harsh conditions and initially was interrogated for several days while under an order prohibiting him from meeting with an attorney. After a legal battle led by Honenu, the soldier was allowed to meet with an attorney. The soldier was suspected of taking part in protests after the terror attack.
Today (Thursday), in a hearing at the Jerusalem Magistrates Court, the police requested a five-day remand extension. Judge Amir Shaked denied the request and conditionally released the soldier. A stay of execution was issued for the decision. Honenu Attorney David HaLevi stated, “We are pleased with the court’s decision to release my client despite the serious violations attributed to him.”
